The doctor will see you on your first visit and discuss all of your options for achieving the perfect smile for you or your children. The visit will include an exam as well as a free panoramic X-ray, which gives us the ability to see exactly what is happening in the patient’s mouth and allows us to select the optimal treatment for each individual case.

We will also make sure that you understand our fee schedule, and we will answer any questions you have about insurance policies and payment plans.

How Will My Teeth Get Straightened?

Orthodontists have a full toolbox of treatments at hand to create the best outcomes for the many conditions that can affect your bite and your smile. Since orthodontists only practice orthodontics, they are aware of any and all treatments that will bring out your absolute best.

Phase I orthodontic treatment is typically started between ages 6 and 10, and may employ braces or an expander to resolve minor orthodontic issues and prepare the mouth for braces down the line. Crossbites, overbites, and underbites may be corrected or partially corrected at this time.

Phase II orthodontic treatment only starts once all of the adult teeth have emerged. There are many different options for braces for you to choose from, and we even offer alternatives for adults who may want to avoid the look of braces. Not all patients require a two-phase approach. Many can be treated in one comprehensive phase.

Any protocol that we choose will gently apply pressure to crowded teeth in order to achieve the desired placement, usually in a matter of one to two years. We can give you more specific information about treatment times during your first visit.
